Coming of Age is CandyJar's love letter to the early 2000s, and it had me grinning the entire time. From the iPod Mini and flip phones to the unmistakable teen-movie energy, the nostalgia feels genuine rather than forced. Erin Kuykendall is wonderfully relatable as Chelsy, whose longtime crush on her brother's best friend Nathan creates all the awkward tension you'd want from a coming-of-age romance. Their slow-burn, forbidden-neighbor dynamic feels like something straight out of a beloved YA paperback.
Katie Rose brings exactly the right amount of mean-girl energy, Tate Doppler is hilariously lovable as Brad, and Jack Rykert shines as the protective older brother who delivers one of the story's best moments. More than anything, this adaptation understands the emotional awkwardness of growing up, falling in love, and finding your voice. It's sweet, funny, nostalgic, and a reminder of why these early-2000s romances still work.
