Penny and Elliot have been married for three years when she is suddenly betrayed by him and her best friend, Viola. Elliot suspects Penny isn't the woman who saved his life years ago. Though he covers the surgery costs, he forces Penny to work as a waitress at Buckingham, a shady men's club. Enduring constant abuse from customers and imprisonment by Elliot, her only comfort is her tough but kind-hearted friend, Fay. However, Viola soon discovers their bond and murders Fay to crush Penny. Viola burns down Buckingham to destroy the evidence and threatens their parents to stop Penny from testifying. Penny assumes the torment is over, but it is just beginning. To completely isolate her, Viola kills Penny's sick parents and nearly murders Nelson, the sole heir of the Fords. Pushed to the absolute limit, Penny realizes enduring the pain is useless.
