Emily Duffer, a girl born with extraordinary luck, is left disabled and eventually abandoned by her debt-ridden parents after they refuse to treat her injuries sustained while saving her brother. She is discovered by debt collector Benson Boyd, who takes her in after witnessing her uncanny good fortune firsthand. As Benson's malicious family attempts to exploit and destroy Emily, she becomes the catalyst for him to sever those toxic ties and build a chosen family with her instead.
