  • Refreshingly grounded romance with zero toxic tropes

This one quietly flexes by not drowning in toxic tropes; no feral mean-girl circus, just ambition, sacrifice, and grown-up yearning. Madeleine Rocha-Barnette’s Cleo and Luke Charles Stafford’s Blake feel refreshingly grounded: two driven people choosing each other without the usual manufactured cruelty. The chemistry is warm, flirty, and effortlessly believable, with humor and sincerity doing the heavy lifting instead of chaos. The pacing is smooth, the direction stays focused, and the performances never slip into parody. Soft romance, real stakes, and zero unnecessary mess; and yes, these two absolutely deserve another film together.
