Theo Palmer, a ruthless underworld kingpin, goes to a temple seeking peace but gets struck by lightning and wakes up in ancient times during a famine—in the body of a drunk, thieving lowlife who got himself killed. When he comes to, he realizes the old monk's "turtle shell divination" lets him predict the future each day: where to hunt,when danger's coming, who can help him out.
