Ganpat is a widower who lives with his father Harihar, his younger brother Mochan and daughter Biniya in a village in India. His ambition is to go to the city and to live a free life as he is fed up with his ancestral barren land which hardly reaps anything and the responsibility of his daughter. The story revolves around Ganpat and his strategy to get rid of all his responsibility leading to a drastic turnover in his life because of his obstinate behaviour.
