  • A Vertical love story that makes sense? Say Less!

Verdict: 6/5 Watch it. Feel things. This is comfort food cinema-grilled cheese with extra drama, and maybe a road trip playlist that slaps harder than it should. Even though the film plays in a “vertical space,” don’t let the format fool you. This thing packs more heart into a phone screen than most big-budget romance flicks do in two hours of Dolby Surround Sound and a $200M budget

This movie has no toxic nonsense—just real communication, adult emotions, and a love story that actually makes sense. Highly recommend if you're into road trips, emotional redemption arcs, and hot guys who actually listen.

The Boy I Hate. A title so teen-angsty it should come with a My Chemical Romance playlist. The film, a surprisingly heartfelt, emotionally honest road trip that tugs all the right strings-and maybe, just maybe, forces you to reevaluate that one summer you swore you were “so over” your best friend's older brother.

The film teeters on the edge of cliché but somehow never falls in. Becaus... read more

  • The Vertie I Love

Leif, Jared, Lauren… come on. That’s too many stars in one series. Great production values. Great acting. The future of verticals right here.

  • ❤️🍑❤️

Plenty of yummy people in this one. Nothing to hate here.

  • Tristan+Sam=4Eva

I loved the magnetic chemistry between Tristan and Sam…their banter, their tension, and the way their history still clung to every scene. The road trip setup gave them space to be messy, playful, and real, and I loved watching them actually have fun together in between the emotional moments. Plus, the vintage Mustang? Absolute perfection. Drool.

I love that the main antagonist in this was their history (and possibly Tristan’s drinking issue? Maybe a layer for part two?) Verticals are notorious for ridiculous villains when really the biggest villain is…life! Just life itself. Crap sandwich. Enough villian fodder for days. Think about it…

Did I make a playlist for Tristan and Sam for their cross-country track on Spotify? Yes, yes, I did. Is it filled with road trip vibes from the 1980s? Yes, yes, it is.

  • Quality

Leif is incredible in this one. Bro is destined for stardom.

  • Binge it now!

The Boy I Hate is basically the ultimate “I hate him… wait why do I like him?” story. Sam ends up stuck on a road trip with Tristan—her best friend’s brother and the last person she wants to spend hours in a car with. Naturally, that means plenty of bickering, awkward tension, and the slow realization that maybe the hatred isn’t entirely real.

It’s dramatic, a little ridiculous, and fully committed to the enemies-to-lovers chaos—but that’s exactly what makes it fun. If you like romance that starts with arguing and ends with feelings nobody wanted to admit, this one’s an easy binge.
