The Buried Fairy Tale
Nerissa, a small-town prodigy, marries Gideon believing he is her Prince Charming, only to endure years of serial infidelity, the loss of her child to her controlling mother-in-law, a pushed fall down the stairs that costs her a pregnancy, and her mother's death from poverty-driven neglect. Forced to confront the destruction of her idealized life, Nerissa divorces Gideon and rebuilds herself from the ground up. Years later, a regret-ridden Gideon resurfaces, but Nerissa has long moved on, the naive fairy tale she once believed in permanently buried in her past.
