Anne Lake is a villager with a daughter named Nadine Wood. For years, Nadine has been mistreated by the Wood family due to their bias against her. She goes missing in an accident when Anne is giving birth to a boy. As a result, Anne suffers a miscarriage and begins a journey to uncover the truth about her daughter’s disappearance. In the process, Anne is oppressed by her husband and mother-in-law, who are overly eager to have a male successor.
